Mafia II is a sandbox-style action-adventure video game which is the sequel to Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven.
The game will feature a completely open-ended game map of 25 square miles. No restrictions are included from the start of the game. There will also be around 50 vehicles in the game, as well as licensed music from the era
Mafia 2 is a gritty drama which chronicles the rise of World War II Veteran Vito Scaletta, the son of Sicilian immigrants. As the game progresses, Vito will join a crime family and become a made man.
The game will appeal to all lovers of mafia movies and stories. From the films of the thirties such as Scarface (later remade with Al Pacino) and Public Enemy to the classics made by Francis Ford Coppola in the 70s, gangster movies have been a staple of the US entertainment business. This game is very much in that tradition and has all the thrills you would expect of the genre.
Nowadays we’re more likely to play PartyPoker and buy our booze from a liquor store, but back in the 1920s and 30s gambling and drinking had to be done in secret dens and this encouraged crime. This in turn lead to the strengthening of the mafia which had a second resurgence in the years after the second world war, especially the fifties and early sixties. Still, on the plus side all this illegal activity meant that we have some great gangster related games, especially Mafia II.
